SP #13

The more you put yourself out there,
the more there is for people to take exception with.

ps -  happy b'day, me

(This was not s'posed to be stored as a draft for this long ... however, I fell off the blog train and haven't blogged anywhere for a very long time ... I think it was because my computer died - added this note on Jan 10, 2017.)

SP #12

 Creativity can come from uncertainty
and a bit of angst.

Whether we view it for pleasure or create as artists,
art can serve us in so many ways.

Art evokes the mystery without which the world would not exist.
— Rene Magritte

You may (or may not) have noticed by the dates
that there has been a rather large track of time missing from these sp's ...
June '04 to Nov '06!
I guess I just took some time off from them.
I don't know why.
29 months of no sp's!

Thanks for finding this little strange blog.
Comments most welcome.
Philosophical or otherwise.

Prizes are nice, but the real competition
is with yesterday's performance.

Keep in mind, these are over 12 years ago.
Boggles the mind ... seems like yesterday!

Thank you for finding this blog
... and, if you don't mind, please send me an email to say you had a look.

Give me a piece of charcoal
and I will make you a picture,
for the whole of painting
is sacrifice and determination.

#1 - Draw SP's every chance you can!

Each of these posts will be a self-portrait drawing.
I started this to try to get better at drawing -
do a self-portrait drawing every day, or as often as possible.
My small sketchpad is in the bathroom cabinet and when I have a second or two,
I draw a quick sketch of me. None are longer than 10, or at most 15 minutes (but you know how time flies by when sketching...).

12 years of sp's! I still pick up the sketchpad and draw.

I didn't post anything here in 2015!

If you stumble across this blog, thanks for looking!

Stone

Stone Age   Brushes sketch

- my sketch reminds me of the stone age -
I "saw" this image in/on a small stone in our yard
might make an interesting painting or print ...

The story of the three million-year-old pebble resembling a human face
can be found in many places on the web, but
HERE is a short article about it from Makapansgat, S Africa - with photo.

"The stone age was marked by man's clever use of crude tools;

the information age, to date,

has been marked by man's crude use of clever tools."

found at Poetry Soup    (unknown source, and I love it!)

ArtRage painting - Hanging Hoya

Hoya in the office    -    ArtRage Painting

"There is nothing more difficult for a truly creative painter than to paint a rose, because before he can do so he has first to forget all the roses that were ever painted."
- Henri Matisse

Well, I'm not sure I have seen a painting of a Hoya
so I didn't have to forget about all the Hoyas that were ever painted
:)

Happy New Year!
I cannot believe I didn't post one time in this blog in 2015! Maybe I will post this year and skip the next ...
just post in even years.
